CSA: Siemens Energy Schnabel Railcar and Heavy Lift

As part of a recent heavy lift project, CSA received and assembled a Siemens Schnabel railcar and loading platform at the Port of Mobile. Placed on the AOCX North Track, a Liebherr LTM 1500 crane lifted the 103-metric-ton loading platform from a heavy-duty flatcar, and was followed by splitting the two halves of the Schnabel car apart. CSA’s rail spotter moved each end of the Schnabel car into position, which were then connected by the loading platform. Once assembled, the complete Schnabel car clocked in at 751,000 pounds (without cargo) with a total length of 187 feet. The Schnabel car was later loaded with a 304-metric-ton Siemens Energy Gas Turbine for transport to Purvis, Mississippi.
